Lord, I notice it in small ways. I tune out when others talk, I keep score of who gets credit, I quietly think I would have done it better. Everything I have came from you, so what do I have to boast about?
Jesus, you had every right to be proud and you chose to serve. Humble me gently, before life has to do it the hard way, and teach me to be glad when someone else shines. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I won an argument an hour ago and I feel worse for it. Show me what I was protecting, God. This week let me say you may be right and mean it, and give me ears that listen before my answer is ready.
When someone else succeeds
My coworker got the promotion and my first feeling wasn't joy. Forgive that, Father. Teach me to clap for people sooner, and let me be happy for them before I'm happy for myself.
Before a big moment
Jesus, I'm about to speak in front of people. Keep me from performing. Let me serve the room instead of impressing it, and if it goes well, remind me who gave me the gift.
Asking for humility
This prayer scares me, Lord, because you might answer it. If there is a gentle way to humble me, please take it. Make me quick to listen. Make me slow to defend myself.

He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
