Struggling to believe
For when belief feels hard to hold onto.

Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!”
Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

A prayer
Original writing, not a quotation of Scripture.
Lord, I believe, but I need help with the part of me that doesn’t. My faith feels thin some days, worn out from questions I can’t fully answer. I am not going to pretend that away, I am bringing it honestly to you instead.
Meet me in my doubt the way you met those who needed to see before they could believe. Grow whatever small faith I have left into something steadier. I want to trust you even when I can’t see clearly.
