Questioning why this happened
For when belief feels hard to hold onto.

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says Yahweh. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
He said, “Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be Yahweh’s name.”
Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory, while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

Lord, I don’t understand why this happened, and I’m not going to pretend I have peace about it that I don’t actually have. Your ways are higher than mine, but that truth is hard to rest in right now while I’m still hurting from the question. I don’t need every answer, I need to know you are still good and still with me in the not-knowing.
Help my trust grow even where my understanding can’t reach. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
