A prayer
Original writing, not a quotation of Scripture.
Lord, my timeline and yours don't seem to match, and that gap is where most of my frustration lives right now. Help me trust that your sense of timing isn't careless, even when it feels slow to me. I don't want to force something open before it's ready, and I don't want to miss something because I got tired of waiting.
Teach me to hold my plans loosely and your promises tightly, believing you are never late even when you aren't early. In Jesus' name, Amen.

A friend recently received what I've been praying for, Father. I'm glad for them, mostly. Take the sting out of the comparison, and remind me that you wrote a different calendar for me.
When the door stays shut
I've been knocking a long while. I won't break the door down, God. Keep me from forcing something that isn't ready, and help me do what is in front of me while I wait.
A prayer for patience
Lord, give me the kind of patience that is more than gritted teeth. Let me rest in knowing you are never late. Fill the waiting with small things worth doing.
Looking back
Thank you for the times I begged for something and you said wait, because I can see now that some of those delays were mercy. Help me remember that the next time I'm watching the clock.
Bible verses for trusting God's timing
But I trust in you, Yahweh. I said, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.
For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says Yahweh. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.
But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
