She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Yahweh, weeping bitterly. She vowed a vow, and said, “Yahweh of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.”
Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
You count my wanderings. You put my tears into your container. Aren’t they in your book?
Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
I wait for Yahweh. My soul waits. I hope in his word. My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.

Lord, another month, another test, another quiet drive home. Hannah prayed so deeply that the priest thought she was drunk, and you did not turn her away. All my longing lies open before you.
I don't know how this story ends, and I'm afraid to hope and afraid to stop. Hold our hearts through every appointment and every waiting week. Protect our marriage from the strain.
Whatever comes, keep us close to you and to each other. In Jesus' name, Amen.
