My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
Yahweh came, and stood, and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak; for your servant hears.”
and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”
He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before Yahweh.” Behold, Yahweh passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before Yahweh; but Yahweh was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake; but Yahweh was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake a fire passed; but Yahweh was not in the fire. After the fire, there was a still small voice.
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

A prayer

Speak, Lord. I'm listening, or at least I want to be. My days are loud, and I'm not sure I would recognize your voice if you spoke.
You said your sheep know your voice. Teach me to know it through your word, through wise people, and in the quiet I keep avoiding. Keep me from mistaking my own wishes for your leading.
Whatever you say, give me a heart willing to follow. In Jesus' name, Amen.
