In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety.
I laid myself down and slept. I awakened; for Yahweh sustains me.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.”
He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

Lord, it is the middle of the night and my thoughts are racing again, spinning through everything that could go wrong. You never sleep, and you never grow tired of watching over me, even when I cannot watch over myself. I hand you this panic, the tight chest, the spiraling mind, the fear that feels bigger than the room.
Help me breathe. Cover me under your wing and let my body finally believe what my faith already knows: I am safe with you tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.
