The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.
For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.
Love is patient and is kind. Love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud,
Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.
Let’s not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another.
doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

God, I am ashamed to admit it, but I am jealous of someone I love. When good things happen to them, part of me smiles and part of me sinks. I don't want to keep score with the people you gave me.
Uproot this envy before it grows into bitterness. Teach me to rejoice with them for real, and show me the good you are doing in my own life that I keep overlooking. In Jesus' name, Amen.
